Family: Ranunculaceae (Buttercup family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: late April - June

Rue Anemone has white to pinkish-white flowers and rounded tulip-shaped leaves.

Rue Anemone was originally assigned in 1753 by Linnaeus to the genus Anemone, then transferred into its own genus Anemonella, before being transferred to the Meadow-Rue genus Thalictrum in 1957. DNA evidence has since supported the latter placement.
