Family: Cupressaceae (Cypress family)

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: March - April
Mid-Atlantic fruit ripe: October

Although it can grow well elsewhere, Baldcypress is mostly found in wet areas. It characteristically has flared, buttressed bases to its trunks and forms "knees" surrounding it. Baldcypress is one of our few deciduous gymnosperm trees.
