Family: Orobanchaceae

Mid-Atlantic bloom time: August - September

Entire-leaf False Foxglove's unopened blossoms resemble a bright yellow crayon or lipstick, similar to other local False Foxgloves. To help identify it, note the late summer to early autumn bloom time, its lack of downy stems, and the lack of lobes or serrations on all but its most lower leaves, which are only slightly lobed.

Like all members of its genus Aureolaria, is hemiparasitic on oak tree roots, meaning that it does photosynthesize to some degree, but it also takes water and/or nutrients from its host.
